World Hearing Day 2022: To hear for life, listen with care!
Every year on March 3rd the World Health Organization, or WHO, hosts a campaign to raise awareness about healthy hearing practices. Each year has a differing theme which the years' activities center around. For 2022, the theme is To Hear For Life, Listen With Care!
2022 is the 15th World Hearing Day and the theme is very close to our hearts as it aims to promote hearing loss prevention. Hearing loss prevention is something we as a clinic advocate for strongly because healthy hearing should not be taken for granted.
The key messages WHO has stated for this years' theme are as follows:
1. It is possible to have good hearing across the life course through ear and hearing care
2. Many common causes of hearing loss can be prevented, including hearing loss caused by exposure to loud sounds
3.‘Safe listening’ can mitigate the risk of hearing loss associated with recreational sound exposure
4. WHO calls upon governments, industry partners and civil society to raise awareness for and implement evidence-based standards that promote safe listening
It's important to take care of your hearing because once it's gone, there's no getting it back! Take care of your ears by wearing hearing protection and avoiding loud noises as much as possible.
